Maerdy, Rhondda Fach, Maerdy, Rhondda Cynon Taff
At the head of the Rhondda Fach valley is the small town of Maerdy, which owes its existence to coal mining. Several pits to the north of the town were exploited for over a century, and Maerdy was the last working deep mine in the Rhondda.
